This is great Luke! This model is the way forward. With many congregations steeped in old ways of leadership, the transition will be hard, complicated, and messy but worth it.

These are thoughtful suggestions and should encourage conversations within churches. I have been an active member of a medium size traditional church for over 30 years, but most of my activity was in congregational care and I'm not active there anymore. The church does strongly involve the congregation in most areas. I was not from the 'home' community but I felt nourished until the last 10 years or so with changes of pastors and a pandemic. I am still part of a small group for bible and spiritual study and who care and pray for one another. I don't know if it is age (over 70) or the times, but I have a strong faith and connection with Jesus, the Father and the spirit, but little with the 'big' church or its activities. I think I would be spiritually content in a small home church meeting once a week to worship and share a simple meal.
